04-02-13 Tractor Trailer vs. Car |
|
At 0518, Williston Fire and South Burlington Fire were dispatched to a tractor trailer vs car accident on the town line. Both departments responded and found a tractor trailer jack knifed into a guard rail blocking the road. The truck lost control on black ice going down the hill on Williston Rd and hit an oncoming car, finally coming to rest into a guard rail. The truck also knocked down power lines and was leaking diesel fuel. Crews worked quickly to control the diesel spill. Both Williston and South Burlington ambulances transported patients to FAHC with non life threatening injuries.

03-29-13 Busy Morning - 2 Small Fires |
|
At 0834, crews responded to a reported appliance on fire in a residence. Upon arrival crews found moderate smoke in the kitchen, with a toaster on fire in the sink. The fire was quickly extinguished with a water can and the residence was ventilated. The toaster was accidentally left on top of the stove with a burner on, which led to the toaster catching on fire. The resident moved the burning toaster into the sink and called 911. There was damage to the stove and cabinets. Crews went in service at 0911.
Shortly after returning to quarters, Williston Fire was dispatched to a fire alarm at Chili's. Upon arrival crews found a fry-o-later that caught on fire and burned into the duct system. The fire was contained by the suppression system in the business. Crews checked for extension and found none. Units went in service at 10:21
While handling both fire calls, crews also handled 2 separate EMS calls with both ambulances transporting. |

At 1652, crews were dispatched to a reported "light switch on fire" in a residence. Upon Engine 2's arrival they found smoke coming out of a light switch in a kitchen wall. When crews opened up the wall, fire was traveling up the studs in the wall and into the ceiling. After quickly exposing the wall and ceiling, crews were able to make a quick knock and contain the fire to that area. Thanks to the prompt 911 phone call from the home owner, the fire never had enough time to spread throughout the confined spaces within the home and was contained.
