Department Update

April 30th, 2008

Thanks to the benefits of our new facility, we have been able to develop some new initiatives. One of these is a Sleep-In Program for our call Firefighters. This program was not feasible in our old facilities. Now, call Firefighters sign up to stay overnight in the station. They are able to do training with full-time career staff and then are available during the night to respond on the first engine. This gets an engine with a full or nearly full crew out the door much faster.

EMTs are also encouraged to stay at the fire station. This allows individuals who may have to leave a car out in inclement weather to respond more quickly. This reduces response times for medical emergencies.

We are approaching one year in our new facility and have found it to be of great benefit in how we are able to deliver services to Williston. Please stop by at any time for a tour.
