Scheduling an appointment:

- Each car seat requires a 30-minute appointment.
- If you are expecting, we recommend you schedule an appointment four weeks or more before your due date.
- When possible, only the caregiver and the child being fitted to the car seat should be present at the appointment.
- If you have a BeSeatSmart car seat voucher (i.e. from WIC), please let us know when you schedule your installation. Please allow enough time prior to scheduling so we can have the proper seat in stock.
- If an interpreter is needed, please bring that person with you. If you do not have an interpreter, please make your appointment with the UVM Medical Center (802-847-1215) where they can provide interpreter services.
Prior to arrival at the station:
- Bring your car seat voucher with you to the appointment. We cannot provide a seat if you do not have your voucher.
- New car seats must be out of the box with all packing material removed.
- Used car seats must have their hard surfaces wiped clean and the fabric washed.
- Vehicles must be wiped clean including seats and doors, carpet vacuumed, and all areas free of food or loose items.
- We reserve the right to reschedule your appointment should the car seat(s) and/or vehicle not meet the above requirements.
- Please perform a COVID-19 self-health check the morning of your appointment. If you or any individual in your household has COVID-19 symptoms (or has been in close contact with anyone that has symptoms), please reschedule your appointment.
Upon arrival at the station:
- Enter the station off Talcott Road and park in the first guest area to your right. Please do not park on the front pad or behind the building, which are designated for rescue personnel only.
- Notify us of your arrival by using the intercom phone located inside the main entrance foyer (facing Route 2 by the flag poles), to the right of the glass window.
- Your appointment will be in an open bay, or may take place outside, so please dress accordingly.
If we are out on an emergency call:
- Our staff may be out on an emergency call when you arrive. If nobody answers the intercom phone upon your arrival, please wait in your vehicle 10 to 15 minutes for us to return. When you see rescue apparatus return to the station, please resume the check-in process above.
- Upon our return, seat installations will proceed in the order of their appointment times.
- If you are not present upon our return, we will assume you opted to reschedule your appointment. We will then proceed with the next scheduled appointment after yours.
